Wayne
Moore, MD and Virginia Tucker, MD hired me in September
1989 to be the administrator for the Kansas Chapter. At
that time, my average work week was 5-7 hours. Six presidents
later, I am the fulltime Chapter executive director and
enjoying every new challenge the Chapter has to offer. I
have had the opportunity to watch the Kansas Chapter go
from a minute non-profit to an active, high profile, highly
respected organization. The officers have excellent leadership
skills, the executive board is a knowledgeable diverse group,
and the committees are active and productive.
As the Kansas Chapter continues to grow, there is one goal
that remains constant; KAAP members are dedicated to the
children of Kansas. |

When
I'm not meeting and enjoying people, I take pleasure in
gardening, snow skiing, hiking, cycling and travel. I
have hiked a "fourteener" and biked several
interesting trails from the Root River Trail in Minnesota
to the trail around Jekyll Island in Georgia. And of course,
being a mother to two sons is one of the primary focuses
of my life.

I
joined the Kansas Chapter of AAP in January of 2004, excited
and eager to add my development skills to the early literacy
project. With 19 years of experience in fundraising, I
have been blessed to observe and work with fantastic philanthropic
individuals who make a difference in the world in which
we live. The project gives me a chance to continue that
work and match the literacy interests of individuals,
corporations and foundations with a program that will
make a difference in the lives of children throughout
the state of Kansas. The committed and passionate leadership
of KAAP, board and staff, along with the vision of Kansas
Health Foundation will be added to the generosity of donor
partners and together we will create a legacy of books
for generations of Kansas children. What a great way to
"Turn a Page, Touch a Mind."

I am very ecxcited to be a part of the Chapter again. I had left the Chapter back in January of 2007 to explore a new area in my life. And, the long and short of it is that I am currently earning my Montessori Teacher Certification for children ages 3 - 6 and I have my own school in the lower level of my house! The school is only three days a week so that enables me to do the other things that I enjoy, such as working for the Chapter, photography and cooking. I also have two young children who keep me very busy most of the time! I am excited to offer the new Parent Connections page on the KAAP site and look forward to helping the parents of Kansas Kids! I will be working from my home office in Shawnee, Kansas.
