Pediatric Council

The purpose of the KAAP Pediatric Council is to improve the care of Kansas kids while making certain that the insurers of our state help to cover the care they receive. We will work with these companies to make them more aware of our needs to provide better care for our patients.

But we need your help. It is important that you use the below Hassle Factor Form to report items of concern or contact Dr. Stuart Shanker directly. Increase involvement by pediatricians will help stress the seriousness of the issues.

AAP Hassle Factor Form -
The Hassle Factor Form is for pediatricians to report problems with payers and is now available online on the AAP Members Center homepage. To complete the form online, go to http://www.aap.org/moc and log in. Down the left hand side, click on "Private Payer Advocacy", then click on Hassle Factor Form, in the 3rd paragraph.   There are two choices to click on for the online form; Concerns with Payers or Concerns with Retail Based Clinics (RBC's).

Representative Contacts for BlueCrossBlueShield of Kansas (BCBSKS)
BCBSKS reports that pediatricians should contact the representative in their county with problems and issues. Click on the map below for representatives names and phone numbers. (Note - Johnson and Wyandotte counties are covered by BCBS of Kansas City)

Note from Dr. Shanker:
The KAAP Pediatric Council asks for your input to identify areas which need work. Please keep us in mind when you encounter roadblocks to care from insurers. Also, give us the positive programs which you have identified as helpful to both you and your patients in order that we may apply them in a broader manner to more people. Good ideas should be shared. Our state's pediatricians continue to lead the way to help the children of Kansas. By being aware of your own practice, you can benefit others as well.
